My Recommendation: Bite!

Who wouldn’t like a bite of a sweet and tasty crème puff on a Sunday night?  “Pan Am” is another period piece, but it’s a nighttime soap, more “Desperate Housewives” than “Mad Men.”  The show explores the world of working at Pan Am in the 1960s.

Last week I referred to TV’s other new period drama, NBC's "The Playboy Club," as a Weight Watcher's Frozen Eclair, but "Pan Am" promises to be a real treat.  “Pan Am” is no entrée, but it is a fulfilling dessert.  Christina Ricci is the flaky pastry shell.  The first thing you see that draws you to the pastry.  But the whipped cream center is the ensemble, the script and the production value.  

Crème puffs are traditionally smaller than other dessert, lighter and less filling. “Pan Am” is no different.  It’s a slight indulgence at the end of the weekend, before the cold, hard reality of Monday morning slaps you in the face.  Take a bite and enjoy.
